Marshmallow
By Clare Turlay Newberry
The Story
A pampered tabby cat named Oliver is used to being the only pet in the house — until a baby rabbit named Marshmallow moves in and slowly, charmingly, wins him over.
Why It's Special
For the kid whose own pets (or siblings) took some getting used to, this is a gentle look at how grumpiness can soften into friendship.
- Big idea: Not every friendship starts warmly — sometimes love grows slowly, on its own schedule.
- Vibes: quiet, tender, a little old-fashioned, and warmly funny
Perfect For Kids Who
- enjoy animal friendship stories
- are working on welcoming new siblings or pets
- respond well to calm, gently paced stories
- love detailed, realistic animal drawings
